Optical networking is booming. Ethernet is spreading from the LAN to the carrier networks. The recent Infonetics report forecasts the Metro Ethernet market tripling to $15 billion by 2009. ILEC video distribution (IPTV) is finally putting all those miles of dark fiber washed clean by CH13 from Global Crossing’s balance sheet to profitable use.
