Sad thing is that during the early part of the industrial age, people with ‘the Knack’ did quite well. Now it seems to be paper-pushers, people with the gift of gab, and those with questionable integrity do well.
Maybe it should be ‘were dooooooomed’.
I remember both Star Trek episodes and I think a Twilight Zone episode where the children are unable to maintain nor understand the equipment that their forefathers designed and built.
