[quote=UCGal]When we did travels up in Northern Cal this summer one of the places we stayed had a composting toilet (and a regular porta potty for #1).
They used it on their personal garden.
It was pretty cool. They also had a solar heated shower, solar panels, a really bitchin’ 1 bedroom treehouse.
Thanks UCGal. I’ll look into this. Even though septic/leechfield isn’t my first choice, I see myself as a Geyserville / Mt. Shasta / S. Tahoe retiree (sans the Birkenstocks and Uggs – ugh)! I gotta figure out how to conserve resources and expand/control my “energy field” so I can live to be 100 . . . lol.
Note: Early this month I toured my coveted “retirement area” of Mill Valley and even drove by this available property I recently posted about that is totally me!
NO CAN DO! BEAUTIFUL and FABULOUS private wooded area but too many steep switchbacks on these roads (just east of Muir Woods). This property was situated on a very shaded dead-end of an 8.5 mile long “cul-de-sac” (25 mph). I have vertigo, and, even though I was doing the driving, I had some serious issues getting there and turning around at the end. I can’t imagine trying to make the 10 mile trek to a convenience store out of there, much less a regular supermarket trip on the 101 (assuming I could make it to the entrance ramp, lol). I can’t even imagine having to get to a gas station quick from there! SO not for me but you CAN’T SEE ALL THIS IN THE LISTING! My trip was VERY enlightening and also FUN! It’s a WHOLE ‘NOTHER WORLD north of the Golden Gate Bridge . . . lol!
