Tuvu, I wouldn’t try to talk you out of it because it depends on your current stage of life. I used to live in SF for over 20 years but now in SD for over 2 years because of job and starting a family. If you have young kids and want kids friendly place, then SD is it. SF or “Bay Area” does have kids friendly locations but those are in silicon valley like Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Los Altos. Above 30 minutes drive heading south of highway 101 or 280.
SD has better weather thorough the year but SF overall has more diverse cultures and better ethnic food. You find more Asian and other unique/exotic cuisines in SF without having to drive, just take the convenience public transportation.
At this stage of your life with kid(s) going to college and money is not a big factor, then I would pick the “City” because of higher wages, more entertainments, and better quality of life. Be warned, housing is very very very expensive!
