This shift, coinciding with the ever expanding state and federal government, is why the response to off-shore outsourcing creates an entitled bitterness. We say, “How dare the Chinese take OUR jobs” instead of saying, “How can we compete”.
I agree wholeheartedly. American businesses should out-compete China. If you run a manufacturing business here in the US, you should work your employees 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week like the Chinese do. If they complain about not having enough time with their family, you can house them in dormitories and their families can work in your factory too. You can also out-compete China by dumping even more of your toxic waste in rivers, landfills, or the ocean. Note that young workers (under 18) are especially good at factory work because they don’t tire as easily as the older ones. Of course we will need to get rid of those communist hippie government workers at OSHA and the EPA, as well as trial lawyers like the ABOMINABLE JOHN EDWARDS, because they will whine and complain that such practices are unsafe and unfair. Off to FEMA camps with the lot of them for “re-education”.
If you are a whiny American worker, ask yourself what you can do to compete against the Chinese. Are you willing to accept dangerous working conditions and long working hours for low pay? If not then step up, bub or get left behind. This is the new economy. Get used to it. Be thankful you’re getting paid at all you whiny scum.
