There is an up to $1,500 Federal Tax credit on these windows if they are purchased prior to 12/31/10. It is for the windows only and not installation. To get the full $1,500, you would have to spend about $5,000 on windows. Lowes has the windows that are eligible for the tax credit (as well as a few other dealers). I only installed one low-E window because the rest of mine were already installed by a previous owner (dbl. paned but not “low E” as it didn’t exist back then). It was a large picture window and the difference is night and day. As Aecetia said, the windows are slightly tinted (either green or gray) and have argon gas between the panes. They are cool to the touch and DO keep the sun and heat out of the room and keep things from fading. And looking out them makes outside come truly alive! I would highly recommend them in every room, if you can afford it. I do think they’re worth it and would be a selling point, if your property will bear the price.
