The water issue is something that makes me hesitant to buy. Quite frankly, if not for my husband’s job (esp. medical insurance), we’d be out of here — even though we are native southern Californians and all our family, friends, etc. are here. I wonder, if we ever get nationalized healthcare, will we see a mass exodus from the urban centers? Perhaps many people are in the cities for the same reason we are — good jobs with decent health benefits.
On top of that, we still have ridiculously expensive, sub-standard housing.
We’d really love to live in a small fishing town up north (with lots of rain, water and trees) and open a tackle shop with an attached diner. We could live in a simple, small cottage on site, or an upstairs apartment. At least that’s our dream…
