The key to outdoor furniture is in the pads. If you buy sturdy metal chairs and put great pads on them I found that works best. If you can work with wood, then by some plans over the internet, get some nice Redwood and hardware and build it yourself. Make sure to get plans that are simple and at most call for straight cuts, a skill or table saw, drill, socket set, wrenches, etc. Take your time build a chair or bench one at a time. Stain and waterproof, buy nice pads and enjoy the outdoors.
