That “news” piece is just another message from the consumer culture that we live in. Basically, it puts forth that if you have money you should spend it. So, he doesn’t pay for pizza? Wow! That’s criminal! The article demonizes him for being “cheap.” (Though I would think that roof would pose some serious inconvenience–rain coming in, etc)
