We have a number of friends up in LA in the entertainment industry as well (mostly support work: audio/video equipment, editing, make-up, prop design, gaffers/grips, transportation, etc.), and they have all been hurting, too. Like you’ve said, this has been going on for a while.
As you know, a lot of money in LA comes from the entertainment industry. It’s so much bigger than most people realize, as there is so much employment “behind the scenes.” The downsizing there is going to have a major impact on housing in LA and also the rest of So Cal to a lesser degree, IMHO.
