Thanks for the link, Marion. That wasn’t the video, but holy cow – that one is worse! In the video where he talks about Hillary, he makes specific reference to 401k’s and such.
SDEngineer – I stand corrected. However, I’d bet that we are still near the top in “potential” mobility, versus actual mobility. Measures of mobility correlate parents and kids’ earnings. So countries undergoing dramatic change see big mobility.
But how much of this is choice? Most posters here could be loaded if we had chosen different lives – law school or MBA and a cutthroat career – instead of engineering or education. I don’t feel trapped in the middle class. I like it here. I know how to move up or down but I like my job.
