I recently moved into Poway and my kids (not yet in elementary school) will eventually be going to the same middle and high schools as that neighborhood. Do you mind sharing what you didn’t like?

As I said, my kids’ experience in elementary school was fine. One was at Painted Rock, the other at Chapparal. (Keep in mind this was 14 to 19 years ago, things may have changed.) But both kids had problems at Twin Peaks. Kids were cliquey, bigoted and intolerant. My son was downright strange (still is, for that matter) wasn’t into sports, and got picked on relentlessly. Complaints were ignored, which pissed me off to no end. My daughter was into sports, but also into working as hard as she could in class. So she also felt that she didn’t fit in. (apparently cool kids don’t get A’s) Son did one year at Poway High and hated it, so we moved. I was really skeptical that the switch to Torrey Pines would make much difference, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. A group for everyone and everyone fits in, even the weirdest kid. He was just a slightly above average student in Poway, but excelled at TP. We moved 10 years ago, I’ve heard recently from friends that still have kids there that things haven’t changed much.
