Look Mr “davelj” you need to be dropped into the scene in the movie “Malice” where Bill Pullman (as Andy Safian) gets a cold shot of advice from Ann Bancroft brilliantly playing the chronic drunk (but sharp as a whip) mother-in-law.
She says, “Get in the Game!”
And she implies that if you don’t know what the Game is, then you ARE the game.
Let’s see… you’re the guy who said, “Better yet: I’ll continue to turn away and spare myself,” Right? So I’m to take advice from someone who can’t follow their own? Is that it?
Yes, I’m sure you’re right, “stockstradr”… let me get a piece of paper and write that down… “Malice… Pullman… Bancroft…” Got it. Sounds intriguing. I do like that Bill Pullman. He’s on that “Big Love” show, yes? I will get right on that for sure. And, after all, the most important of my philosophical underpinnings have come from scenes in movies.
It would be downright irresponsible of me to ignore the advice and learned wisdom of an internet poster who refers to himself as “stockstradr” (“Look at me, folks, I trade stocks!! It’s my username!!”). I’m reminded of the posts several years back on a different board of a guy called “marketwiz.” Turned out he wasn’t. Funny how such things tend to work out.
Anyhow, you’ll have to pardon my skepticism, stockstradr. I’m hoping you’d be equally skeptical of me if my chosen username were “privatequitymgr” and I suggested that you watch certain movies to figure out where you stood in life. Because it would be equally pompous and ridiculous.
Anyhow, thanks for the movie recommendation. I’m sure it will shake my soul to its existential foundations. By all means, keep the good advice coming.
Now, on a non-facetious note: stockstradr, you cannot possibly be serious. Please tell me that your whole pseudo mini-Gekko persona has been concocted as entertainment for the rest of us.
