But don’t forget all the inventory being bought up in bulk purchases (straight from the banks) and by investors at trustee sales. I’m guessing (really, really guessing) these comprise perhaps a third or a half of all available inventory — not just MLS inventory. Perhaps they’re an even larger portion of sales going on right now. With everything designed to be so opaque, we can only guess based on anecdotes and bits and pieces offered up by insiders and people who are trying to research this “shadow inventory.” These investor purchases are the real story, IMHO.
