sdr, since when did you become an “expert” in the communities in the far reaches of East County? Enough to know what would or would not be “acceptable” to the OP?? You’ve made it abundantly clear here on numerous occasions that your particular “market area” is “Carlsbad, CA and surrounds,” a 35-45 mile drive one way for the OP, even further than Escondido (that he doesn’t want to live in), lol.
Since you have stated here numerous times that you are from New Jersey and left at least 11 years ago, how is it that you are certain what kind of housing folks living in New England and the entire eastern seaboard are “accustomed to” and would “be comfortable” in??
No one is trying to “direct” the OP here. He has stated his family prefers a large one-story dwelling with possible walkable amenities and there are many very fine homes and neighborhoods with these types of properties located in East County, within a 15-minute surface-street drive of his new employer, and several more which will meet his needs within a 20 to 30-minute drive due east, northeast or southeast (away from SD traffic).
