Wish I could agree with you on that. We used to innovate and produce great things that made life easier, safer, more efficient and productive. Over the past couple of decades, we’ve shifted into a country that values capital over labor and production. We’ve elevated “dealmakers” who speculate and “invest” over the workers who produce real goods and provide truly useful services.
Our most recent “innovations” (financial “innovations”) have brought the world to its knees. Somehow, I don’t think of this country the same way I used to; and I’m not alone in this.
I desperately want to see us turn a corner and put this nightmare behind us. I believe in this country and her people, but we’ve gone a long way down the wrong path, and we have a lot of work to do to turn things around.
