Based on the data it appears to me that although the financial irresponsibility has not declined to upper-Midwestern levels, current cost ratios indicate that SD buyers are less financially irresponsible today than through most of the past 33 years. In that sense it has improved, just not to the point where it meets the threshold of sensible for those of us who grew up in the Midwest. I am alot like you jstoesz, I think SoCal prices are nuts. But, it is what it is. I don’t think we will see prices normalize to something resembling reasonable ratios observed in other places (e.g. Minneapolis or Dallas or Kansas City) in my lifetime.
