We have already crossed the line with many other vices so yeah why not just throw in the towel. Why draw the line at pot? Why not just have everything legalized. Someone can smoke a joint, do a line, drop some acid, have sex with a horse. It doesn’t hurt you and clearly they can handle it right? It is thier free will and thier choice correct? Maybe they are even doing it for health reasons.

SDR,
You said it yourself: you sit in the middle of all your friends smoking out, even though you don’t.
Personally, almost all of the kids I grew up with smoked pot (and did much worse, then gave up all the other stuff except for alcohol and pot), most of them smoked pot and drank on a daily basis. They still do. I quit in 1985, but still hung out with this bunch because they were more fun. 🙂
As a sober person who was able to see close-up what drugs and alcohol can do with daily use, give me a stoner any day over an alcoholic. I’ve spent decades with these people and NEVER saw anyone fight when stoned, never got into a car accident when stoned, never knew anyone to die or have health problems due to pot…basically, never caused any problems when just stoned.
Alcohol??? There’s no end to the stories of ugliness I could tell about that drug, including a number of deaths from accidents, etc. I’d say alcohol ranks up there with meth and heroin as far as destructive and dangerous behavior goes.
People who want to smoke pot already do. I’ve never met anyone who wanted to smoke pot but didn’t just because it was illegal. Do you?
Let’s legalize it, tax it, and run the Mexican gangs into the ground. Even though much of it is grown here, the Mexican gangs control a lot of it. Remember all the problems with the Mafia and prohibition?
