I do not have any problem with a regressive tax policy. As a libertarian my views are that govt should be smaller and as simple as possible. A regressive tax policy does not seem unfair to me. Some people feel that the more you make the more you should pay. So if I have 3 jobs and work 3 times as hard to make more money I should be penalized more and pay more taxes… Hmmm… like I said, to me THAT seems unfair.
Your greivances to me sound like they have more to do with the tax code and the loopholes then anything else. Yes a straight flat tax on any and all income sounds okay to me whether it is capital gains or income. As long as EVERYONE pays it, I see no problem with it.[/quote]
With all due respect, the majority of people I’ve known who had to work 2-3 jobs were very, very poor. The wealthiest people I’ve known had to do the least amount of work, and what work they did do was much more pleasant than what most poor people do for a living.
Have to agree with Brian on this one. A progressive income tax is the “fairest” tax (IMHO).
