In order to release that contingency you have to sign a form releasing it. You would know if you did that. Unless your agent slipped it in and had you sign it without explaining it (very highly unlikely but possible) you still have the contingency escape clause.
As for the agent, my expereince selling properties up your way is that the agents are awful. You have a right to be irritated but the next one is likely just the same. My guess is it is likely inexperience on the whole or in selling properties on septic.
