Pri: You got that right. My dad was in the Marines in WWII and Korea and I remember him telling me stories as a kid and he’d be describing a buddy and suddenly get this faraway look in his eyes.
I didn’t realize until after my own time in what the expression meant: The guy he was talking about was dead.
My 11 year old son was telling me recently about his wanting to join either the Marines or the Army and I told him that, while serving your country was admirable, there wasn’t a chance in hell he was going into the Marines or Rangers/SF. The Navy or USAF would provide him with an excellent education in law or engineering and those were his only two choices.
