Previous posters comments on Blackstone Merlot, definately agree, it’s great for the money! I also can’t do the 2 buck chuck, but I also CAN NOT AND WILL NOT drink Yellow Tail.
I’m really liking the stuff Chateau Ste Michelle is putting out from Washington State. Their Riesling, which admittedly is more of a summer wine rather then winter, is just awesome for $5.99 at Trader Joes, but they often sell out. With chicken or turkey it’s a must.
CSM also has a more upscale series called Indian Wells, and I got the Merlot on sale at Von’s for $12.99. It melted in my mouth with every sip. Not bad for $12.99!
If you like Chardonnay there is an incredible value coming out of a Paso Robles winery, Martin & Weyrich. Their Edna Valley Chardonnay is very close to being as good as Rambauer’s, and is half the price, at $15 a bottle.
I’m always seeking out value for $$$ in wine, and this is a great thread. While I doubt I’ll be indulging in any $100 bottles any time soon, I do like to plow through a good $30 bottle every now and then, and especially love when I can get a $30 bottle for $15. 😉
