@paramount – Nope, not from MN. Husband born and raised in San Diego and I lived there 29 years, kid was born there, etc.
Yeah, lots of folks swimming in Temecula…Since I’m not SCUBA certified, glad we got out or we would have drowned. The place we sold in ’06 is now worth 50% less, if you believe Zillow. We would have been in a world of hurt.
@no_such_reality – I guess the question was how the system works. The article wasn’t clear. Is there no disclosure by the selling agent/sellers that this amount is due? The one family that had paid road expenses previously and was now looking at paying again after downsizing, even after checking with the city and finding road work wasn’t scheduled until 2017, seems to have gotten the shaft…
Yup, got a fridge and all the extras in the rental…Paying 1800.00 for 3000 sf including the finished basement…Don’t know if you could find that anywhere south of Temecula in So. Cal. Temecula’s commute to husband’s job + gas prices would have made the trade-off brutal.
Luckily those summer hours don’t seem too far off from San Diego’s…I blame DST…They’ve got it all reversed. We should be on DST now, give people more time to drive home in the daylight. DST during spring and summer just makes for 9:30 fireworks on 4th of July. It’s a conspiracy between Bed Bath and Beyond (black out drape sales) and Starbucks (coffee sales for people who have to wake up in the dark to peddle off to work)!
Speaking of Starbucks – we’ve seen ONE the whole time we’ve been here. Bizarre! Have yet to check out a Caribou Coffee.
Thanks for the hunting dates…Will remember to plan my outings around them since the city will be empty! ;>)
We got the Loon license plate for our car! It fits us. ;~)
Will be avoiding Lake Minnetonka! Thanks for the heads up…
No buying…We’re working on reclaiming our homeowner virginity…We’ve taken a vow of mortgage celibacy. Kid is in college, we’d like to move to Europe someday…Renting = flexibility for us, plus I think buying in Minnesota may be above our pay grade considering things like paying for road maintenance, wells, septic systems…
Yes, tornados…We have been warned about that…What are your thoughts on these NOAA radios I’ve been told about? Are they worth it? Do they work? I almost peed myself when Edina tested its emergency siren a week after we arrived…All I could think was we were getting nuked! No one around us at the market seemed phased so I checked in with hubby, who checked in with boss…apparently they do a test every month…I gather those sirens in conjunction with NOAA radios are the way to find out about heading to your basement stocked with water, flashlights, batteries and Spam? All I know is…at least you get a warning with tornados…No warning system for earthquakes and do not get me started on wild fire evacuations in San Diego…Trapped on Pomerado Road with hundreds of neighbors and no information as to where the fire was only to find all the hotels full….slept in cars with our dogs in Pacific Beach!
Lovin’ this mild winter! It’s been so nice finding our way around w/out four feet of snow everywhere! Everyone has told us the horror stories of last winter…Ugh! We would have died!
