Our new house is about 3/4 of a mile from the freeway with several houses in between, we do hear it, especially when it is really clear or we are having a Santa Ana. it is not particularly loud, but it is annoying. We can’t open the Master bed windows at night, however we have a good ceiling fan and we can open the bathroom window, so it is OK. A nice water fountain can mask the noise pretty well, if you really like the house and it is a good deal, put in a water fountain.
