[quote=marion]John, I agree with Rustico all the way. In watching the youtube clip, it appears that Obama is expressing the fact that his grandmother was raised a certain way, and that way is to fear people of color that she doesn’t know. I get that there is some resentment, some sadness, because clearly people shouldn’t be raised to fear other races simply because they look differently. There is realism in his words, John. It’s an observation of what has transpired in this country and been passed down through generations of families regarding race relations almost since its inception.
On the other hand, when I watched and listened to Ferraro’s attack on Obama and his perspective on Obama’s statement concerning his grandmother, it made me SICK. Ferraro and company are encouraging fear and devisiveness among the races. It needs to stop.

Marion,
What if that had been McCain and talking about the typical black person?
Would you defend him as you defend Obama?? No, of course not.
Ferraro has done a tremendous about of good works for the black community and now you want to accuse her of creating fear and devisiveness among the races simply because she made a comment grounded in what she considered to be the truth.
