IMO Obamacare is going to get crushed by the media as soon as Obama leaves office. All the warts and pimples will finally get exposed. We were all sold a pack of lies.
Umm . . . yeah! I have been trying to tell this story for months here on the forum. Thanks for bringing this topic back front and center in these critical weeks, LJ Renter!
Open enrollment for obamacare starts on 10/15 in CA (11/1 in some other states). I’ve already reviewed the Covered CA rate hikes for 2017 and their plans are going up 13% (on avg). My carrier, BSoC (the ONLY INDIVIDUAL PPO above Bronze level offered in SD County), is raising rates 19% (on avg) and ~30% in my age group for 2017. Are we surprised? See:
My 2016 rate is already nearly 295% of my 2013 rate (prior to the inception of the ACA). I took out my 2013 PPO plan in 2004 and was medically vetted for it at the time. My carrier left the state at the end of 2013, forcing me onto the (hopelessly incompetent) state exchange. Since then, I have lost two of my eight longtime providers to retirement and two more who dropped out of my plan mid-year 2016. I just replaced one with a new provider and scheduled a preventative care appt for late October. She was one of just THREE providers available to me within 15 miles of my Chula Vista residence! (There are likely 400-500 providers within 15 miles of my residence in this specialty!)
The above dates are BEFORE election day and the poor slobs who have been forced into buying a plan from our state exchanges (myself incl) are going to be none too happy . . . ESPecially the 55-64 year-old set!
