So yes they are credentialed, and no they would much prefer to live in a nicer area of california. Many, many, many of my college friends and roommates wanted to be teachers, and few of them found jobs.
BTW, from what I have heard (from people who have gone through the credentialing process) getting a credential is kind of a joke. It is more of a bureaucratic hoop than anything. It does not make you a better teacher, only states the obvious (such as don’t smack johnny around when he is being a punk kid).
