Second what JP said.
I have the book, but haven’t had the time for anything but a cursory skimming. I tend to lean on the side of conspiracy theorists because when I try to rationalize everything as a series of “unfortunate, unpredictable accidents” it doesn’t compute. When I look at the system as a way to take from the masses, and grow wealth at the very top, everything suddenly fits together like a puzzle.
Who knows? We can only guess, because the vast majority of us will never be privy to the goings on in the most elite circles. Personally, it makes perfectly good sense to think that those who passionately crave power and money will never be satisfied with what they have at any given point in time. It’s hard to think they would stop trying to accumulate more wealth and power just because the “little people” at the bottom are suffering. They just don’t care about such trivial things.
