Its cheaper for a reason, several of them actually. Us snobby San Diegans (especially lifers like me) remember when Escondido and Ramona were for middle class white flight. Now its Temecula and surrounds, but hey its cheaper.
On the plus side the schools are better relative to afford-ability than anything you are likely to get in SD.
