I guess what I am saying, is Cities these days are for bureaucrats mostly. and Cities need suburbs as much or more than suburbs need cities.
But even an extended city is not what I would call even close to walk able, I think TG said best (again), cities are for the young and childless couples, real families will search for a nearby burb.
