In the South County malls, it’s people from MX buying the exp. bags and shoes. When there’s a big sale, they buy them by the dozens, i.e. Macy’s five-hour clearance – 95% Baja plates in the parking lot.
Most can’t get American credit cards and are cash buyers.
Remember, folks who live there have A LOT more discretionary income than we do as the living exp. in MX is MUCH cheaper than SD and they still work here – read Sentri pass. I know many Americans that have one, and several who live there and work here. Not all work in low-wage jobs at hotels and restaurants as is the common misconception. Some are lawyers, accountants and dentists, etc.
