In my opinion your landlord is praying that you won’t sue him in small claims court so he gets to keep your deposit. You should not let the rascal get away with it. Sounds like you’ve kept good documentation. Hopefully you took photos to document the condition of the place before you vacated. Start building your case and file suit. It’s easy and cheap and you will win if you state your case clearly and have receipts/photos/letters and witnesses to back it up. Courts seem to be sympathetic to the tenant.
