I’m not that impressed with the Tesla. I think they’re all hype and very little substance. Did you know it uses AA batteries? I kid you not, go look it up.
Batteries are the heaviest single components in an electric car, so it makes sense to choose a cell size wisely. A AA battery has far more packaging than actual cell by volume that a larger battery would have. Maybe they got a good deal on AA cells, but it’s certainly an odd choice.
Someone I know, who’s an expert at power systems, interviewed there once and said the Tesla power systems engineers were pretty clueless.
