I would also support an additional gas tax. Remember how nice the freeways were when gas was over $4.00/gal? I love taxes when the taxpayer has control over the amount he/she is taxed.
All that being said, I’d love to see an organized, volunteer, taxpayer advocacy group that would have control over this money. It wouldn’t do us any good if they raised taxes but didn’t correct how they are spending the money. Like sand running through your fingers, tax revenues run through politicians’ hands. We need strong oversight by people who cannot be bought off, and are not affected by lobbyists.
