I hate Chase, for a long list of reasons. They took over WaMu and although their tellers and managers are all trained to smile, be friendly, ask how your day is going, etc., behind the scenes they are contriving more ways to screw you with fees, holds on deposits, and recently, shut down on-line access for 4 straight days, blaming outside vendors for infecting their sign-on process (where’s the back-up system guys?).
In my experience, the smaller the bank, the better the service and the smaller and less frequent the fees. They have not yet learned all the insidious ways to screw the customer. Plus, they did not take our bailout money. Also, credit unions in general are invariably better than the big banks. I use Mission Federal Credit Union–far superior to Chase. I have many autopays with my Chase checking and am too lazy to switch….but some day they will push me over the edge & Il’ll drop them.
