I guess I’m probably in the minority here, but I am really glad this bill passed, and I hope it passes in the Senate. It is probably not perfect and will need some tweaking as it plays out, but I think something big and all encompassing like this is needed.
I envision that 20 years from now our country will no longer be oil dependent, and we will be amazed at the technology that will be developed because of this bill. Things we can’t even imagine right now. People will look back at the passage of this bill as a no-brainer and wonder what all the resistance was about.
I’m on the fence as to whether or not global warming is a real thing, but I strongly believe that it’s time we stop burning stuff to create energy.
The passage of this bill reminds me of when they were trying to ban smoking on airplanes. That was back in 1987, and it was only to ban smoking on flights of 2 hours or less. It passed by a narrow margin of 198 to 193. But now, looking back 20 years later, doesn’t it seem like that was kind of a no-brainer?
