I guess I should have prefaced the definitions of the thread with my own “take” on the the two sides of the argument. As I see it, individualism is analyzing the rights of a person based on their individual circumstances and background. Collectivism is analyzing the rights of a GROUP of persons based on similar characteristics (skin color, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, etc.).
In other words, I don’t view my neighbor, who is a Gay, Elderly Black Man; as a member of the Old, Homosexual, or Black communities…But rather I view him as an individual…no different than a Young, Heterosexual White Woman. Each are given the same unalienable rights bestowed upon them by their creator.
