I got the Intelliflo VF. Before, I had my 2 kW pump running for 4 hours, for a total of 8KW/day in electricity. Now, mine runs at 300W for 14 hours a day, for a total of 4.2KW/day. That’s 50% savings. Since my electricity usually gets into the higher tiers, that’s 30c/KW, or about $1.20/day that I am saving. That’s $430/year. In 18 months from purchase, I break even with the deal that I got. I think I had found the Intelliflo VF online for $1100. I asked San Dieguito Pool to price match the pump + installation ($200) + 3 years warranty. Minus the $200 SDGE rebate, I think my total cost was about $1100.
I highly recommend it. $1500 sounds a bit rich, though.
