I don’t know how I knew. I guess I wasn’t 100 percent sure. But the bee guy confirmed it. He made it seem too easy. Clipped the branch and dropped them in a box. Another reason I didn’t want to kill them. The Africanized are taking over and I think they are hurting the honey bees. Funny but they just did a story on the news about bees. Some lady’s next-door neighbor’s abandoned house in Northern California somewhere had so many bees they had honeycombs forming!
