I believe that Filipinos are Asians mixed with Spanish. Thus, they would not be straight up Asian (Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese), and therefore Pacific Islanders. Native Hawaiians/Guamanians/Samoans are also considered Pacific Islanders.
And, speaking of Malaysia and Indonesia, throw in Thailand to that mix. I would think they would be Pacific Islanders as well. If you pay close enough attention, you can see differences in facial features. (ie: rounder eyes on the Pacific Islanders–influence of the Spanish)
Of course, we have so many mixes of everything in SD, one can never know anything for sure! Love that!
