I am a fiscally conservative, socially tolerant (maybe even socially liberal), limited government independent. Neither party shares a large enough intersection of my views for me to be anything other than maybe a Republican-leaning independent. The Republican’s ideals regarding free markets and taxation appeal to me, while their lifestyle intolerance bothers me. Similarly the traditionally Democrat position of sticking it to the man at tax time bothers me, while their positions on health care reform, environmental position, and tolerance for people’s lifestyle appeal to me.
I am undecided.
I, too have the added bonus that Obama shares my ethnicity. My mother was also a Caucasian from Kansas.
