What is not debatable is that government should live within its means, matching revenues to spending over time — deficit spending during recessions and surpluses during the good years. An across the board spending freeze during a deep recession would be irresponsible.
In that regard, the Obama plan is a much better plan.
Obama mentioned that Iraq has an $85 billion surplus, but we are spending $10 billion a week in Iraq. There’s something wrong with this picture.
