I can comment. I live off Calle Cristobal which parallels Mira Mesa Blvd. to the north. Mostly Asians live in the area. yesterday I took my dog for a walk at the nice, new park on the North end of Cam. Ruiz, and since it was daytime on a weekday a lot of housewives (to be more pc, home makers?) were there with the babies. There were about 50 Indian women and other desi (no offense, by desi I mean Indian or Pakistani or Bangladeshi etc) and about 20 SE Asian women and me and my (apparently very dangerous, but that’s another story) 10-pound dog. Combining this observation with the other threads discussing how the U.S. is becoming the new “cheap manufacturing” country, I think it’s a safe bet to buy and rent a house in MM when the price comes down like SDR mentioned.
The shopping in the area is so-so: there’s a vons and an Albertson’s and a ralphs, I go to the LA Fitness on Camino Santa Fe, and rumor has it they’re going to put a “Henry’s” market in the plaza where Bally’s used to be. Anyone know anything about this?
I’ve lived in this ‘hood for 10 years, wow! Bought in ’98. It’s VERY convenient for me because I also work at Qualcomm and many other companies in Sorrento Valley. There’s a nice hiking/biking trail off Sorrento Valley Road, and although there is crime it has never affected me aside from having the “H” stolen off my Honda which is apparently a popular thing to do amongst young MMHS kids.
