Heard a rumor that Raytheon is going to be hiring quite a few people.

A friend of mine who was unemployed for about six months (and hadn’t made a mortgage payment that whole time), had been dutifully looking for a job the entire time to no avail. A couple of weeks ago, she got five calls in one week. This in accounting/administration for different companies in different industries.
Another friend told us that his company’s business steadily declined last year, forcing them to file for BK early this year. Business weakend much further, then a few weeks ago, everything really started picking up.
In local retail establishments, business was DEAD last fall/winter, then things really began picking up around February. All of the small business people I’ve talked to recently have told me that things are picking up.

I am in no way claiming that we are out of the woods or that the “green shoots” are real. Just saying that **something** seems to have changed in the past few months. I think it’s always prudent to keep one’s eyes, ears, and mind open to what’s going on around us.
