has anyone read about the timeline of events, how soon after the earthquake hit did the tsunami make landfall? i wonder how long people had to flee to higher ground? the older man who was found 10mi out in the ocean floating on apart of his roof mentioned he and his wife went back to their house to retrieve belongings.
if they had tsunami alarms sounding and these people had practiced all these drills, why would you go back to your house when its on the coast?
in 1 video i watched, i heard a siren and announcements, but interestingly the siren didn’t continue on, i wonder if it was a tsunami warning. i watched a vidoe where people are watching the water come in from higher ground and just in front of them, people are walking slowly while the water is coming very rapidly. some people start running at the last minute and the video doesn’t show it, but i believe those people tragically were swept up in the waves. its all heartbreaking to watch
will people here evacuate immediately after a large earthquake off the coast first hits? it would seem every second counts, leave everything behind and just get in the car and start driving
