What you miss is that those smaller bodied v8’s have much better handeling. They are most likey sports cars that while smaller, turn faster/smoother, stop quicker, and often have better fields of view than your tank on wheels. In some situtations like a head on collision it is better to be in a SUV. On the otherhand, if you have to stop because someone caused an accident infront of you, or some other reason something is infront of you, a smaller car is better as you may not hit it at all.
A friend of mine was in a car accident not too long ago. A drunk turned infront of her. She had some time to react, but couldnt stop/swerve fast enough. Problem was he was driving a F250, and her SUV was smaller. She took the worst of it by far, but the car right behind her was able to stop with plenty of room to spare. (poor old woman thought my blonde haired blue eyed friend crawling out of the windshield in all white clothes was a ghost 🙂 I am serious. The amblance had to treat her too! )
My point is you feel safer in a CUV as you call it, but in MANY MANY situtations you are not safer, regardless of who is at fault.
