If I go to NorCal, that is considered an “open road” trip as Norcal is actually more than twice as far as SD to the AZ line. I don’t drive much down here because even if I have the freedom from work and my chores to go to LA for the day or to spend one night up there, I still have to get my pets taken care of while I’m gone which is a big deal if I can’t take my dog with me. And I also have landscaping and trash day responsibilities. I’m not as mobile as you and don’t have a “lock and go” lifestyle, like you do :=0
