In any event – he had misgivings about creating weapons to be used against his countrymen. He was leaving the U.S. with his wife, his kids and many crates of stuff, theoretically for a visit, when they detained him. I don’t think he planned on staying here – and there is an ongoing question as to whether he was a spy, although from what they can show it was more of an issue of national loyalty.
Overall – I don’t think it was us showing him the door.
