I know you are jesting here, but I think there are some half truths here. Asians have such low self-esteem from their upbringing that they think by buying material things they can feed their self-esteem. You said it right there. They buy it so they can feel good about themselves. It’s gratifying to them. Their self-esteem is so sagging they have to have the best car, the best purse, the best house, etc, b/c then they can feel good about themselves after all the years of being verbally abused by parents. That’s it in a nutshell.
In any case, it certainly isn’t restricted to Chinese mothers. They should try dealing w/Italian fathers. Years of counseling to try to undo that damage 😉
