I don’t think you folks sense the irony here….
For all the bashing about all the crap that comes out of overseas about food safety and several have touted about food product safety…Then we have this sort of crap that goes on….
I’ll LOLing because I’m deciding what’s the better way me and my family will die… Eating fish from the gulf, eating fish from overseas bathed in mercury bath, or eating GM food made by monsanto…
Makes you kinda wonder, are food products from china really that much worse off than stuff from here? Are we *really* that much better off…It’s definitely making me think twice….
After all, we know it’s not only the genetic modifications that’s screwy in itself (they are)…It’s that their doing it so they can spray tons and tons of pesticides on the goods so that they can kill bugs and weeds without killing the produce…. But don’t worry, I’m sure all those pesticides are perfectly safe for human consumption…
Recent shopping trip for ‘healthy’ baby food:
Gerber Organic Brown Rice Infant cereal.
Ingredients – 100% organic whole grain rice.
Made in China.
Stop, back up. Double check. USDA Organic – check, infant cereal- check, whole grain rice – check. Made in China.
… I started to have a facial tic at this point.
It’s organic and good for the environment and my baby, but I’m grinding it up in China (A bellweather in consumer safety) and then putting it in a box, in another box, in a steel container and loading it on boat that is basically burning asphalt to ship it 10000 kilometers across the planet.
Lol… That’s the irony, isn’t it???? Sure, the food is organic… What do you think they use for fertilizer…Obviously, some for some of these farms, real fertilizer is too expensive… Next best thing might be some “natural fertilizer”, if you know what I mean. I kid, I kid…. Sort of..
And when in doubt, next time you check, you might as well look to see where your toothpaste is made these days. If you’re spending less than $2/tube, I’m pretty confident it’s not made here…
Anyway, don’t buy baby food. Make your own…Get yourself one of these…
That is, if you don’t mind that they are made overseas too, and you feel ok whether the plastic cup is ok….
We were discussing the making the baby food, that was the straw… we looked at the MB, but went with a all in one Beaba Baby Food Maker The wife likes the steam and blend in one container. I’m happy with anything that is less stuff to clean.
As for organic, well, … technically, it’s not bull____, it’s steer____ that is used.
And as for what is fertilizing the organic in places like China… exactly my thoughts. Ever have ddong deji in Korea?
